How Does Our Loot System Work? 10 months ago #62

Issues with your numbers? Talk to an Officer.

System Explanation

  • We use a public bid zero-sum DKP system.
  • DKP System is used only for 25 man raids. 10 man raids do not use DKP.
  • New raiders start with 125 DKP.
Items are announced on vent/raid chat and bidding starts at the base price. Bids are made in increments of 25. Ties are settled with a "/random 100" roll. An example bidding session would look like this:

[Master Looter] Item of Awesomeness has dropped. Bidding starts at 150 points.

[Player A] 150
[Player B] 175
[Player A] 200
[Player B] 225

[Master Looter] Any more bids? Going once, twice, sold to Player B for 225.

Points are then immediately deducted from Player B's total and that DKP is added to the weekly "DKP Pool."

DKP is earned based on the total DKP spent during a raid reset and the combination of hours you spent raiding and on sitout for that reset. DKP spent during raids is added to a weekly "DKP Pool". You currently earn "1 DKP Hour" for each hour you spend raiding, and earn "0.5 DKP Hour" for each hour you spend on sitout (which means you are online, ready to drop what you're doing to swap into the raid, and have notified the DKP Officer that night). At the end of each reset (after Monday's raid but before Tuesday's raid), the total number of "DKP Hours" are added and divided into the total "DKP Pool" for that week, to find the "Hourly DKP Award." Each player is then awarded a "Weekly DKP Award" which is the "Hourly DKP Award" multiplied by the total "DKP Hours" they earned that raid reset.

  • DKP spent is immediately subtracted from your total.
  • DKP earned is added to your total after each raid reset.
An example of this would be:
Assume 100 DKP was spent each day.

[Player A] spent 3 hours raiding on Tuesday, 3 hours raiding on Wednesday, 3 hours raiding on Thursday, and 3 hours on sitout on Monday.
[Player B] spend 1 hour on sitout on Tuesday, spent 3 hours on sitout on Wednesday, took Thursday night off, and 3 hours raiding on Monday.

[Player A] would earn 270.97 DKP for that reset.
[Player B] would earn 129.03 DKP for that reset.

This may seem complicated, but we've found it to be the fairest way of rewarding the work all raiders put into Keine Neuen's progression. If any of this is unclear, please ask an Officer for clarification.

  • You can still win items if you have negative DKP, but you have no points to bid, and thus cannot bid against others. If awarded the item, you will go further negative.
  • Your attendance will still be tracked on our DKP site.
  • Your weekly DKP earned will appear as an adjustment on your personal DKP page, not as a raid. Your adjustments are at the bottom of your personal DKP page.

Base Item Prices

  • 25 DKP - Bracers, Boots, Gloves, Belts, Rings, Necks, Trinkets, Relics, Wands, Guns, Bows, Thrown
  • 50 DKP - Shoulders, Back, Head, Legs, 1H Weapons, Off-hands, Shields
  • 75 DKP - Chest
  • 100 DKP - 2H Weapons (50 for fury warriors with Titan's Grip)
  • Recipes are rolled on.
  • Other items are at Officer discretion.

Off-Spec Gear

If an item drops that you would like for an Off-Spec, you should express your interest to the Master Looter. If no Main Spec needs the item, those interested in the Off-Spec item may bid starting at 25 DKP. If no Off-Spec bids are placed, those interested in Off-Spec will random roll for the item, with the highest roll winning the item at no DKP charge. BoE items are not rolled for and instead are sold to fund our Guild Bank. Allowed Off-Spec rolls are:

Hunter: No off-spec rolls
Rogue: No off-spec rolls
Mage: No off-spec rolls
Warlock: No off-spec rolls
Warrior: Tank stats = tank spec, Lack of tank stats = DPS
Death Knight: Tank stats = tank spec, Lack of tank stats = DPS
Priest: Hit = DPS, Non-Hit = DPS and Heals
Shaman: Caster stats + Hit = Caster DPS, Caster stats - Hit = All Casters, Physical stats = Physical DPS
Druid: Caster stats + Hit = Caster DPS, Caster stats - Hit = All Casters, Physical stats = tank/kitty
Paladin: Caster stats = Heal, Tank stats = Tank, Lack of tank stats = DPS

Armor Class Priority

It is customary to give preference to those who share a "top armor use type" with the loot that drops. For example, if a leather item drops, it is customary for a plate wearer to pass to a leather wearer. When deciding what to bid on, think, "will this benefit my class and spec the most, or someone else?". Remember, gear is for PvE raid progression first, grinding/pvp/5 mans second. Additional class restrictions can be placed on items at raid leader/officer discretion.

Special Items

Items such as Orbs and Legendary Collection Drops are handled separate from normal DKP rules and have their own threads in the Internal Guild forum. Please refer to those threads for specifics, or talk to an Officer if you need clarification.
